Welcome to the Whelan Group website.

Our research focuses on developing and applying methodology from molecular evolution to a range of biological problems, ranging from new methods used to infer evolutionary trees to tools for identifying protein-protein interactions.

These methods and applications all share a common theme, extracting information from genomic data in the most efficient way possible. These approaches are usually based on phylogenetic methodology, but also stray into other areas of computer science and statistics.
